Raspberry Pi crosses 10M sales, launched new starter kit

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has reached a giant new milestone: Raspberry Pi crosses 10M sales, it’s sold 10 million Raspberry Pi computers in just four and a half years.
The low-cost device was originally introduced to help and teach children regarding programing, because it turned out, hobbyists have also used it for a range of creative homemade project.
“We thought our lifetime volumes might amount to ten thousand units — if we were lucky,” Eben Upton, founder of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, explained during a web blog post. “There was was no expectation that adults would use Raspberry Pi, no expectation of commercial success, and certainly no expectation that four years later we would be manufacturing tens of thousands of units a day in the uk, and exporting Raspberry Pi all over the world.”
To celebrate this milestone, the organization is launched a bundle with everything you need to get started. The Raspberry Pi Starter Kit includes an 8GB sd card, a case, a 2.5A power supply, an HDMI cable, and an optical mouse and keyboard, together with a copy of the “Adventures in Raspberry Pi” book.
The starter kit is offered currently in the United Kingdom for £99, with additional VAT. It’ll be coming to the rest of the globe over following few weeks. Pricing wasn’t declared, although the united kingdom value converts to about $130 in the US.
